PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion of a carboxylic acid-modified polyolefin with high water resistance in the form of coating film. SOLUTION: A dispersant for the carboxylic acid-modified polyolefin is provided, comprising an addition reaction product( including its salt ) of an inner olefin and an unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride or a derivative of the product. Preferably, the inner olefin is obtained by isomerizing a 10-30Cα-olefin. The aqueous dispersion contains the carboxylic acid-modified polyolefin and the addition reaction product( including its salt ) of the inner olefin and the unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride or a derivative of the product.
