FIELD: chemistry of biologically active compounds, chemical technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method for synthesis of serotonin and its pharmacologically acceptable salts. Method involves addition of alkaline metal to the reaction medium in a netted capsule made of platinized or palladized platinum and reduction of 5-benzyloxytryptamine with hydrogen in status nascendi under atmosphere pressure and intensive stirring.
