A vegetation pruning device comprises a pair of arms (not shown) adapted to pivot relative to each other about an axis to adjust the angle between them, and at least one handle portion (not shown) adapted to be gripped by a user. The device also includes a motor having a rotary output drive and an endless flexible cutting element 108 mounted to a first arm, which is driven by the rotary output drive. At least one gripping member is adapted to be moved relative to the cutting element by means of pivoting the arms relative to each other to grip vegetation between the gripping member and the cutting element. A gear mechanism is connected between at least one gripping member and at least one of the arms, wherein pivoting of the arms through a first angle relative to each other causes pivoting of the gripping member and the support through a second angle, larger than the first angle, relative to each other.
