PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus capable of preventing surface discharge between scan electrodes and sustain electrodes during an initialization period, while reducing the initialization period and a method for driving the same. SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus includes a scan electrode driving section of applying a reset pulse to the scan electrode, and a timing control section for altering the end point of falling of the reset pulse applied with the scan electrode driving section.
