PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring device in which the measurement resolution can be changed. SOLUTION: The distance measuring device comprises: a transmission part (110) for transmitting a prescribed measurement signal toward an object to be measured; a receiving part (120) for receiving the signal returning from the direction of the object to be measured; and a control part (100') for executing the measurement process in which the transmission part and the receiving part are driven, for detecting the time from the transmission to the receiving of the measurement signal, on the basis of the signal received by the receiving part, and for making the resolution be variable when the receiving part receives the signal.
