<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure high contrast and also to make luminance higher. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device is provided with three reflection type image display panels 16R, 16B and 16G respectively modulating light used as video light out of red light, blue light and green light and converting their planes of polarization, and three polarizing beam filters 15R, 15B and 15G transmitting the red light, the blue light and the green light emitted from the light source and separated, guiding them to the respective image display panels, also reflecting the light whose plane of polarization is converted by the respective image display panels, and guiding each of them to a cross prism 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
