PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium destruction device more surely performing destruction of a recording medium. SOLUTION: The recoding medium destruction device 1 is composed of an apparatus placement section 2, a destruction section 3, and a lifting device 5. The destruction section 3 is constructed by arranging a large number of needle members 10 in columns and rows, and is partitioned into six sections. Coils 82 are mounted on the needle members 10 and the needle members 10 are magnetized. To destroy the magnetic recording medium mounted on a substrate 25, the medium to be destroyed is placed on the apparatus placement section 2 together with the substrate 25, and the destruction section 3 is lowered to form a large number of through-holes in the substrate 25. The current charged into a capacitor is passed to the coils 82. As a result, alternating magnetic fields are generated from the needle members 10 to destroy the magnetic recording medium.
