DEVICE FOR CALCULATING MOVING QUANTITY OF MOBILE BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely measure the speed of a mobile body in an environment including the mobile body and a stationary object.

SOLUTION: A standard image is taken by a standard camera, and a reference image is taken by a reference camera. A plane area where a vehicle is traveling is extracted from the standard image and the reference image. A VPP image IVof a road seen from above and a VPP plane image IVfof the plane area seen from above are generated by use of the standard image. VPP image matching is performed in the range of a common plane area R (ΔX, ΔY) of VPP images IV(t)and IV(t-1)taken at different times is performed, and the moving quantity is calculated from the determined slippage.
