PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize personal authentication with a simple operation, in a multi-functional machine without having an adequate input operation part such a numerical keypad alone. SOLUTION: Account information of authentication data coincident with information of an authentication server 103 is related to predetermined special code information and stored in a storage part in this multi-functional machine 102 in advance. When a special code is inputted by using an operation part comprising only a numerical keypad, a checking means checks the inputted special code against the coincident account information. When the account information stored in the multi-functional machine 102 coincides with the special code inputted by the operation part in the checking, an authentication operation is carried out by using the account information for the authentication server 103. When personal authentication is carried out by using authentication data of the authentication server 103 connected via a network 101, the personal authentication using the authentication server can be realized with this procedure even by the multi-functional machine 102 having only a numerical keypad and without having alphabet keys or without having an operation part enough for inputting characters.
