PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing an organic halogen compound stably progressing a decomposing reaction in relation to the treating method comprising contact of the organic halogen compound with an alkali metal. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for decomposing treatment of the organic halogen compound using mineral oil containing≤0.15% by mass of polar substance specified in ASTM D 2007 Clay Gel analysis and having kinematic viscosity of 5-15 mm<SP>2</SP>/g at 40°C and an alkali metal dispersion in oil.
