<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using mixed developer having two kinds of toner having nearly the same hue and having different reflection density and to minimize dead time, until a printable state when the mixed developer in a developing device is emptied. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with the developing device 10C having a mixed developer container 14C for storing the mixed developer composed by mixing two kinds of toner having nearly the same hue and having the different reflection density, a replenishing device 64C having toner containers 66L and 66H for storing toner T<SB>L</SB>and toner T<SB>H</SB>, respectively and replenishing the mixed developer container with the toner, sensors 76L and 76H detecting whether or not the respective toner containers are completely emptied of the toner, a sensor 62C detecting whether or not the developer container is nearly emptied or completely emptied of the mixed developer, and a controller 74 controlling the replenishing device in accordance with the result of detection by the sensors 76L, 76H and 62C and permitting or inhibiting printing operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
