DATA ENCODING METHOD AND APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoding method and apparatus capable of encoding data while minimizing a quantization error that occurs during quantization.

SOLUTION: The data encoding apparatus comprises: a quantizer that quantizes input data with predetermined quantization bits; a DPCM operator that performs DPCM operation on the quantized data to generate differential data; an entropy-encoder that performs entropy-encoding on the differential data inputted from the DPCM operator to output the data as a bitstream; a quantization error minimizer to which the input data and the inputted and quantized data are inputted, and which adjusts out a maximum value and a minimum value of the inputted data so as to minimize a quantization error; and a header encoder that encodes the maximum value and the minimum value as header information and contains it in the bitstream.
