<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrier in which the sintering of a noble metal like platinum can be prevented satisfactorily and to provide a method for manufacturing the catalyst carrier and a catalyst in which the catalyst carrier is used. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst carrier has such a characteristic that a primary particle 1 of ceria and a primary particle 2 of alumina are mixed with each other. This catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is obtained by depositing platinum on this catalyst carrier. This method for manufacturing the catalyst carrier comprises the steps of: forming mixed sol from ceria sol and alumina sol; coagulating the mixed sol to obtain a coagulate of ceria sol and alumina sol; and drying/firing the obtained coagulate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
