PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a proper image which prevents misregistration in a transfer position of each ink by preventing the occurrence of a variation in transfer starting positions of a plurality of inks. SOLUTION: This printer comprises: a first recording head 9a, which is provided on the most upstream side in the carrying direction of a recording medium 2, among a plurality of recording heads 9, and which forms a detection mark 13 by the first ink; a detection sensor 13 which is provided in such a manner as to correspond to each of the recording heads 9, and which detects the detection mark; a computing part 17 which computes an intermediate point of detection time from a rise time to a fall time at the predetermined detection level of the detection sensor 13 in the detection of the detection mark, and which determines the transfer starting position on the recording medium 2 on the basis of the intermediate point; and a driving part 18 which starts the transfer of each of the inks from the transfer starting position by using each of the recording heads 9.
