PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner that can sufficiently expel a volatile substance by promoting the volatilization of the volatile substance. SOLUTION: An indoor air maintenance system comprises the air conditioner 2, a ventilator 3, a sensor 4 and a control part 5, and is installed in a room 1 or the like. The air conditioner 2 heats the room 1. The sensor 4 measures the concentration of a volatile substance 11 in the room 1. The ventilator 3 ventilates the room to remove the volatile substance 11 included in air in the room. The control part 5 controls the air conditioner 2, sensor 4 and ventilator 3 as follows: (a) the air conditioner 2 provides heating for a predetermined time, (b) the sensor 4 measures the concentration of the volatile substance 11, and (c) the ventilator 3 ventilates the room.
