PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a good screen display by performing a suitable exposure control even if an excessive light is incident to a CCD with a simple control configuration. SOLUTION: A false OB clamping circuit 3B is provided for clamping a false OB signal when a clamp pulse CP2 is supplied from a clamp pulse generating circuit 4B by applying a clock voltage or a DC level to an electrode adjacent to a charge voltage converter in the part of one horizontal period, and generating the false OB signal substantially equal to a black level (OB level). When the excessive light enters the CCD1 and its OB part transfer charge overflows, the charge overflowing to the OB part is discharged to a reset drain RD side by applying the clock voltage or the DC level to the electrode (output gate OG) adjacent to the charge voltage converter, and the false OB level substantially equal to the black level is generated.
