PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible solution which provides a method of compelling a decoder to execute one or more operations, especially, download of new software and update of the downloaded software. SOLUTION: One mode of this invention provides a method to compel a terminal of a digital television system to execute at least one operation. The digital television system has a transmission system for transmitting a public table having a private descriptor with a code. The code executes at least one of the operations when it is used by the terminal.
