PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method with which transfer dust and base soil on a transfer body are lessened by a simple method and stability is ensured over a long period of time and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image corresponding to a toner image on an image carrier 1 is formed on a transfer body 2 and then an AC voltage is applied to the transfer body 2, thereby the toner image on the image carrier 1 is transferred to the electrostatic latent image on the transfer body 2, the surface of the image carrier 1 is abraded by an abrading member 22b while rotated.
