PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saccharification method which can use a slightly degradable lignocellulose-based plant material in a wet state, without drying treatment and can simply and safely treat the material with high energy efficiency to obtain sugars at a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for saccharifying the lignocellulose-based plant material includes steps of mixing the lignocellulose-based plant material with a prescribed amount of wheat bran and/or powder or their water extract, and preferably, further mixing with a manganese salt and/or a surfactant to prepare the lignocellulose-based plant material solid-liquid mixture having a prescribed water content; crushing the solid-liquid mixture; and then treating the crushed mixture with a saccharifying amylase.
