An apparatus and method for forming a curved glass plate involving a unit and step for glass plate delivery that realize efficient output of a high-quality glass plate of complex configuration.The method for forming a curved glass plate is one comprising the steps of laying a heated glass plate on an inner mold with tilt and shift mechanism set in parallel inside of a forming ring with tilt and shift mechanism equipped with a fixed frame and a mobile frame to thereby carry out preforming; shifting the preformed glass plate on the inner mold with tilt and shift mechanism to the forming ring with tilt and shift mechanism; and pressing a forming mold with given forming plane to the glass plate and carrying out tilt and shift by means of the mobile frame, wherein the preforming step includes an operation of preforming of the glass plate laid on the inner mold with tilt and shift mechanism by effecting tilt and shift by means of the inner mold mobile frame pivoted to an end portion of the inner mold fixed frame provided in the inner mold. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
