TECHNIQUE FOR ABDOMINAL-ANAL RESECTION OF RECTUM AND FORMATION OF LOCKING FLAP FOR PREVENTING ANAL INCONTINENCE

摘要

The technique for abdominal-anal resection of the rectum and formation of the locking flap for preventing anal incontinence provides for tailoring the flap prior to joining the sigmoid colon with the anal canal. The flap is tailored from serous-muscular layer of the descended colon by scarifying the serous layer in the area required for blocking the lumen in the site where the flap is to be generated. The scarified area is treated with 5% iodine solution in ethanol. The proximal part of the colon is invaginated by serous-muscular-submucosal sutures.
