PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a groove type hot forming dryer capable of turning an object to be treated such as sludge into a square bar like dried product that does not cause powdering. SOLUTION: In the device, a pair of rollers formed with grooves 10 in side circumference parts is arranged in a mutually contacting state, the object H1 to be treated supplied from a hopper 2 arranged above the rollers is pressed in the grooves 10, it is dried by conductive heat from the rollers, and then, the dried object H1 is taken out from the grooves 10 by a scraper to obtain the dried product H2. It is characterized by that the groove 10 becomes wider toward a bottom face 10a. Since the object H1 reduced in volume along with progress of drying is prevented from separating away from the groove before it is scraped by the scraper 3, and it is scraped by the scraper 3 after receiving heating from a drum a predetermined time, the dried product H2 in a desired dried state can be obtained.
