PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hinge mechanism for a vehicle seat, capable of improving the mechanism strength and/or reducing the play of the angle direction compared with a conventional mechanism. SOLUTION: The hinge mechanism is comprised of first and second connecting members (10, 11) and a control device. The first and second connecting members (10, 11) are relatively rotatably fastened with each other, and have first and second circular lock bearing surfaces. The first and second round lock bearing surfaces work together with one of the first and first and second lock shoes which are part of a slug (14), so as to fix the first and second connecting members. The control device engages the slug with the first and second lock bearing surfaces, and makes the slug possible to rotate only in a predetermined range around the shaft itself.
