PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a substitution light source while suppressing the enlargement of a device. SOLUTION: To a light source device for an endoscope comprising a main light source for emitting illumination light, an optical fiber holding means for holding the incidence end face of an optical fiber of the endoscope on the optical path of the illumination light, a liquid crystal panel for displaying various kinds of information and a backlight for illuminating the liquid crystal panel, a backlight light incidence means for making backlight light emitted by the backlight be incident on the optical fiber is installed.
