<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid for an information recording medium which is easily recovered. <P>SOLUTION: The coating liquid for the information recording medium is formed by dissolving a dye in a solvent having 0.7 to 2.5 wt.% saturation solubility to the dye at 20°C. When an optical recording medium 10 is manufactured, the dye is dissolved in the solvent to prepare the coating liquid for the information recording medium and the coating liquid for the information recording medium is applied on a base material 21 to form a recording layer 22.
