PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bending method for bending a work while preventing a jumping phenomenon of the work, and a press brake. SOLUTION: The press brake is provided, wherein an upper table 13 having a punch 11 and a lower table 17 having a die 15 are provided facing each other in the vertical direction on a turning frame 9 which is turnably supported by a body frame 3, the lower table 17 is provided in a vertically movable manner with respect to the upper table 13, and a lift detection sensor 39 to detect a lift of a work W with respect to a supporting table 4 is provided on the supporting table 4 to support the work W to be bent by the punch 11 and the die 15.
