ASYMMETRIC CATALYST, PRODUCTION METHOD FOR OPTICALLY ACTIVE ALCOHOL, AND BINAPHTHOL DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asymmetric catalyst and a production method for optically active alcohol which have a high chemical yield and asymmetric yield, do not require the use of a titanium-based activator, prevent the chemical yield and asymmetric yield from decreasing even under a heating condition, can considerably reduce reaction time, require only a small consumption of asymmetric catalyst.

SOLUTION: The asymmetric catalyst is made of a compound represented by the formula where diphenylphosphine oxide units are bonded to the 3 and 3' positions of a binaphthol skeleton.
