<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection mode control apparatus or the like in a network capable of continuing reproduction processing or the like in a node being a subordinate node of a node whose function is stopped without interruption even when the function of the node belonging to a higher-order layer in the tree-structure network is stopped. <P>SOLUTION: Even when the function of the node 2-1 in the higher-order layer is stopped, the connection mode control apparatus searches another node 1-1 to which contents can be distributed and connects with the node 1-1, and increases the distribution speed after the connection faster than that before the function stop. Further, two lines, that is, a main line and a sub line are connected to one node, and data obtained from the main line are ordinarily reproduced. On the occurrence of a fault on the main line, the main line is switched immediately to the sub line and another line is used for a new sub line.
