PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate inconvenience such as rotational fluctuation accompanying change over of control logic and materializing optimum torque control. SOLUTION: Demand torque is calculated (S201) based on accelerator opening and engine speed at first, then it is determined whether it is in a predetermined start period after engine start (S202). If it is in the start period, actual torque at the time is calculated (S203, S204) based on engine angular acceleration "a". If it is not in the start period, actual torque is calculated (S205) based on intake air quantity, engine speed, air fuel ratio, ignition timing and VVT position at that time. After that, demand air quantity is calculated (S206) based on demand torque calculated in S201 and actual torque calculated in S204, S205. Also, demand throttle opening is calculated based on demand air quantity, and actuation of a throttle actuator 15 is controlled (S207, S208) based on the demand throttle opening.
