A drive device has a bendable shape memory alloy member, an elastic member for producing a tensile force in the length direction of the shape memory alloy member, a bending member for bending the shape memory alloy member, and a moving body moved by a displacement of the shape memory alloy member. The drive device is constructed such that a tensile force in the length direction is produced in the shape memory alloy member when the bending member comes in contact with the shape memory alloy member. In this structure, a displacement amount is controlled so as not to be less than that in a drive device where a shape memory alloy member is linearly provided. This enables space efficiency to be improved and a drive device to be downsized.
