PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing carbon nanotube 6, where low-priced carbon monoxide is used as a carbon source, catalyst particles are not included in the monolayer carbon nanotube 6, its structural defect is less, its purity is high, a refining process is unnecessary, and its reaction conditions are a low temperature and a low pressure. SOLUTION: A carrier-type catalyst 1 is prepared by carrying a main catalyst metal 3 and a promoter metal 4 on a carrier 2. Carbon monoxide as a carbon source is flown on the carrier-type catalyst 1 and a monolayer carbon nanotube 6 is grown on the carrier-type catalyst 1 by the vapor growth. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
