PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform calibration of an image processing characteristic while having a high gradation characteristic and an accurate density characteristic in spite of a small gradation number of output data. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a lookup table (122) referenced by a halftone processing unit, a plurality of diffusion gamma tables distributingly and two-dimensionally arranged in the same index pixel groups are assigned to each of the same index pixel groups arranged on a prescribed displacement vector in the lookup table (122), and an average of image output data of a plurality of the diffusion gamma tables is almost coincident with an output gradation value of a virtual representative gamma table of the same index pixel groups. Further, the image processing apparatus includes a calibration means (128) for correcting an output gradation value of the representative gamma table produced from a plurality of the diffusion gamma table on the basis of a correction gamma table to produce a plurality of corrected diffusion gamma table in the case of calibration processing.
