<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy and responsiveness of capacity control based on only intake pressure, in a control valve for a variable displacement compressor performing capacity control of a discharged refrigerant by depressurizing part of the discharged refrigerant and introducing it to a crank chamber based on the intake pressure of the compressor. <P>SOLUTION: In this control valve for the variable displacement compressor, an effective pressure receiving area of a valve element 16 is set large so as to be equal to those of diaphragms 23, 34. Due to this, sensitivity with respect to pressure is good, and responsiveness of capacity control of the variable displacement compressor can be kept good. Moreover, since each of discharge pressure Pd and crank pressure Pc loaded on the valve element 16 is canceled, operation of the valve element 16 is controlled based on only original intake pressure Ps.
