<p>The method for the running of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with two exhaust gas turbochargers (10,11) entails operating at least temporarily the second turbocharger (11) during the running is driven in addition to the first turbocharger (10). The second turbocharger is monitored to the effect that it can be switched off if the contribution of its compressor (14) in relation to the charge pressure falls below a prescribed threshold. The second turbocharger may be switched off depending upon a pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the compressor. An independent claim is included for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with two exhaust gas turbochargers, with monitoring means (35-37) to monitor the output of the compressor of the second turbocharger in relation to the charge pressure.</p> |
