PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a stable operation in wide operation conditions, in a refrigeration unit with an expansion machine, while minimizing the reduction in power recovered from refrigerant in the expansion machine. SOLUTION: An outdoor heat exchanger 23, an indoor heat exchanger 24, a compression/expansion unit 30 and the like are connected to a refrigerant circuit 20. The compression/expansion unit 30 includes a compression mechanism part 50, an electric motor 45, and an expansion mechanism part 60. The refrigerant circuit 20 includes an injection pipe 26. When an injection valve 27 is opened, part of high-pressure refrigerant after heat radiation flows into the injection pipe 26, and it is then introduced to an expansion chamber 66 in expansion process of the expansion mechanism part 60. In the expansion mechanism part 60, power is recovered from both the high-pressure refrigerant introduced to the expansion chamber 66 through an inflow port 34 and the high-pressure refrigerant introduced to the expansion chamber 66 through the injection pipe 26.
