A multi-layer papermaker's forming fabric of the present invention utilizes stitching yarns in the papermaking surface. The fabric of the present invention is formed of repeating units, each of which comprises: a set of top machine direction yarns; a set of bottom machine direction yarns; a set of bottom cross-machine direction yarns interwoven with the set of bottom machine direction yarns; and pairs of first and second stitching yarns extending in the cross-machine direction. The fiber support portions of the stitching yarns and the top machine direction yarns form the papermaking surface.
