PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of adjusting backlash even after a driving gear and a driven gear are installed. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device is provided with the driving gear 22 coordinated to an electric motor m; the driven gear 17 engaged with the driving gear 22; a screw mechanism S rotated accompanying with rotation of the driven gear 17; and a rack shaft 1 engaged with the screw mechanism S in a casing C. The device is characterized in that an engagement part 22a of the driving gear 22 is made tapered and an axial position of the driving gear 22 can be adjusted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
