DISK SUPPORT DETECTION DEVICE, METHOD THEREFOR, PROGRAM THEREFOR, RECORDING MEDIUM RECORDING THE PROGRAM, AND DISK UNIT

An insertion of an optical disk (10) drives a rotation-use motor (221) for rotation-driving a turntable (222) detachably and pivotally supporting the optical disk (10) and detects a rotating speed. An optical sensor (250) detects the rotating speed of the optical disk (10). The difference between the rotating speeds is calculated, and, when the speed difference is almost zero in consideration of an error, it is judged that the optical disk (10) is properly supported pivotally. When the speed difference exceeds a specified threshold, it is judged that the optical disk (10) is not properly supported pivotally due to idling with respect to the turntable (222) and processing of properly supporting pivotally the optical disk (10) is repeated. A pivotally supporting condition is properly judged to enable proper reading and recording. The above arrangement is especially effective for a structure that is provided with the turntable (222) having a so-called self-chucking mechanism and pivotally supports the optical disk (10) automatically when it is inserted.
