<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that in generating feature information on fingerprint, huge buffer memory space capable of storing all the partial fingerprint images read by a sweep type fingerprint sensor is required. <P>SOLUTION: A fingerprint reading system 101 is provided with a sweep type fingerprint sensor 20, a memory 30 for storing a partial fingerprint image read by the sensor, and a processor 10 connected to the sensor. The processor has: an image acquisition part 11 for acquiring the partial fingerprint images read by the sweep type fingerprint sensor one by one and storing them in the memory; a position calculating part 12 for calculating position information on the partial fingerprint image; an image segmentation part 13 for cutting off the partial fingerprint image the only unit image corresponding to the image area with a given area based on the position information; and a feature extracting part 14 for extracting feature information on the unit image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
