PAPERBOARD TRAY HAVING CRACK-RESISTANT BARRIER COATING

This invention provides laminated paperboard in a process of producing the laminated paperboard having a food contacting burner layer which comprises a mixture of a polyester layer, a polymeric plasticizer, and a pigment. The burner composition is mixed together at room temperature, melted into a master batc h, and extruded as a single layer onto a paperboard substrate. The barrier layer provides a food contact surface which can be pressed into a deep draw tray, the deep draw tray maintaining the structural integrity of the barrier coating.
