PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device capable of storing data files by controlling the size of a folder. SOLUTION: The data storage device is provided with a CPU 101 and an image folder 130. When a total sum of the number of files exceeds the maximum number of files or a total sum of the folder size exceeds the maximum folder size and the current number of folders does not reach the maximum number of folders, the CPU 101 creates a new sub-folder in the image folder 130; when the current number of folders reaches the maximum number of folders, a new main folder is created in the image folder 130, a new sub-file is created in the created new main folder, and a data file to be registered is stored in the created new sub-folder.
