PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position a workpiece mounted on a rotary table in the respective control axes. SOLUTION: A position controlling apparatus 1 of the rotary table comprises a data memory 15 for error coefficients (error coefficient memory) for storing error coefficients R,α,ω,θ,β,γincluding the eccentricity from the B axis of the workpiece W to an eccentric position, an error angle of the eccentric position from the Z axis, a tilting angle of the B axis of the workpiece W, and a displacement angle in the tilting direction from the Z axis, an arithmetic means 17 for obtaining correcting amounts for the X, Z axis coordinates based on the Y, B axis coordinates and error coefficients in a command when an operating command has been output from an NC unit to an X, Y, Z, B axis positional control circuit 13, and a correcting means 20 for outputting a shift amount for correcting the operating command value based on the X, Z axis coordinates in the output based on the correcting value to the X, Y, Z, B axis positional control circuit 13.
