The mirror adjusting device (1), especially for an exterior mirror for a motor vehicle, has a base section (2) with a mirror support (3) pivotable in relation to the base section. A damping spring (4) is installed between the base section and mirror carrier. The contact section (5) of the damping spring is subjected to the action of an auxiliary spring (7) made of a material which in relation to the material of the damping spring is less relaxed. An independent claim is included for an exterior mirror unit for a motor vehicle equipped with the aforesaid mirror adjusting device.
