Converting organic materials into oily products comprises producing a first feed stream (S1) from the organic materials, producing a second feed stream (S2) from a water-soluble organic compound containing no more than three carbon atoms, heating S2 to 500-700[deg]C at 22.1-30 MPa to produce hydrogen, and mixing S2 with S1 at 200-450[deg]C and 22.1-30 MPa.
