PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure traveling with its own power, even if power reception from a stringing 2 is shut down or stopped. SOLUTION: The controller of an electric vehicle 3 comprises a DC power accumulator 18, a charge/discharge circuit 14 for charging the accumulator 18 with a part of DC power on the smoothing capacitor 6 side end of an inverter 9 and discharging DC power stored in the accumulator to the smoothing capacitor side end of the inverter, and a charge/discharge control section 21 for supplying DC power stored in the accumulator to an AC motor 12 through the inverter by performing charge control of the charge/discharge circuit 14 at the normal operation of the vehicle 3 and performing discharge control of the charging/discharging circuit at the time of abnormal operation of the vehicle.
