METHOD OF FLAME RETARDANT TREATMENT OF ELECTRIC WIRE/CABLE AND FLAME RETARDANT ELECTIC WIRE AND CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of flame retardant treatment which gives an electric wire/cable with a covering composed of a polyolefin an excellent flame retardance.

SOLUTION: The method of flame retardant treatment of an electric wire/cable comprises impregnating the polyolefin covering with a flame retardant by bringing the polyolefin-covered electric wire/cable into contact with a supercritical carbon dioxide containing the flame retardant for the polyolefin in a reaction vessel. In the flame retardant electric wire/cable thus obtained the concentration of the flame retardant impregnated in the polyolefin covering has a gradient with a higher concentration near the suface than the inside.
