The apparatus comprises a structure 8 supporting the filter cup 72 and housing a sleeve 22 vertically overlying the filter cup 72, a gear and lever (32, 36, figure 3) for vertically driving the sleeve 22, a pressing cylinder 10 having a rod 14 which is slidable axially within the sleeve 22 and which is provided with a head 20 gravity-supported by the sleeve 22, and a rocker arm 44 pivoted to the sleeve 22 and provided at its other end with a system of counterweights 12, the head 20 of the rod 14 interfering with the rocker arm 44 when the sleeve 22 is lowered to bring the pressing cylinder 10 into contact with the coffee. The degree of compaction of the coffee does not depend on the manual skill of the operator. |
