<p>A tensioning apparatus (1) comprises a frame, a bifurcated spindle (4) providing two spindle tines (41, 42) mounted on the frame for rotational movement thereon and defining a slot (40) between the two spindle tines (41, 42). Tightening means are provided and operable to rotate the spindle (4) in a first direction and release means operable to cause or allow the spindle (4) to rotate in the opposite direction. The spindle (4) is shaped or able to be configured so that in use a strap may be positioned within the slot (40) formed in the bifurcated spindle (4) by movement other than threading the strap lengthwise of the strap through the slot (40).</p> |
