PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of bringing an illumination unit existing at a housing position into tight contact with the camera body. SOLUTION: The camera has a lever member (5) which holds the illumination unit (1) at the housing position and releases such holding by rotating operation, and an energizing member (7) for energizing the lever member in a prescribed direction so as to hold the illumination unit at the housing position. The lever member has an engaging part (5a), engaged with the illumination unit existing at the housing position and existing at a standby position obtained by rotating the lever member in the prescribed direction from a position, where it is engaged with the illumination unit in a non-engaged state, and a transmission part (5b) abutting against the illumination unit so that the operating force of the illumination unit is transmitted. While the illumination unit is acted from a projecting position to the housing position, the lever member receives the operational force of the illumination unit by the transmission part and rotates in a direction opposite to the prescribed direction so as to make the engaging part retreat from the standby position.
