PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal acoustic engine capable of securely and rapidly generating the thermal acoustic self-excited vibration of a working fluid and providing a desired acoustic output. SOLUTION: This thermal acoustic engine 20 comprises a columnar tube 21 in which the working fluid is sealed and a thermal accumulator 25 disposed in the columnar tube 21, and forms a temperature gradient between both end parts of the thermal accumulator 25 to generate the thermal acoustic self-excited vibration of the working fluid. The thermal accumulator 25 of the thermal acoustic engine 20 comprises a first region 251 and a second region 252 having different heat exchange properties. An averaged distance R<SB>2</SB>between the working fluid passing the second region 252 and the solid wall of the second region 252 is smaller than an averaged distance R<SB>1</SB>between the working fluid passing the first region 251 and the solid wall of the first region 251.
